Mission/Programs

Guns Down Gloves Up is a registered 501c3 not for profit focused on reducing gun violence within the city of Indianapolis. The GDGU mission is to reduce gun violence while focusing on at risk youth, re-entry programs, and mental health support groups for those affected by gun violence.

Guns Down Gloves Up provides an alternative path for at risk youth ages 6 to 19 through its Conflict Resolution program. GDGU provides one hour group fitness sessions 3x per week (M, W, F) along with all necessary fitness gear for participants free of charge. This provides a positive outlet after school, invaluable mentorship, social emotional learning, conflict resolution training, confidence building, and a pathway into amateur and/or pro boxing.

In addition, the Guns Down Gloves Up non profit offers a support group for individuals that lost loved ones to gun violence in Indianapolis. Through its team of trained counselors and mentors the support groups offer a safe space for healing and for voices to be heard without judgement.

Furthermore, the GDGU ReEntry Program will soon offer recovery and treatment services covering mental health, substance abuse, and urinalysis testing allowing formally incarcerated individuals a positive outlet to gain the skillsets necessary to reintegrate into society.
